So Williams lied about his experiences in Iraq? Some say our country's entry into Iraq was a big lie too, but that should not diminish the hit being suffered by Big Media when a once respected (alleged) journalist paints a picture of personal achievement out of nothing more than self-aggrandizing delusional thinking. Which brings me to my main point? What was he thinking? Was he even thinking? Was he thinking he was a politicians or something? I mean, Marco Rubio is considering running for President even though he did the very same thing - consistently repeated a lie (until caught) about his parents leaving Cuba as refuges when they left long before Castro came to power. Does anyone mind that Rubio repeatedly lied? What about Rand Paul? Before being caught, he routinely plagiarized parts of articles pawning them off as his own words. What about Scott Walker, Wisconsin governor also considering a run for the White House? While on the fundraising ("suck up/sell out trail"), he publicly claimed he held a Masters Degree in Public Policy - when in reality he never even graduated with a Bachelors (last time I checked, a graduate degree requires an undergraduate one is attained first). All are now known liars, but it does not stop them from holding public office or seeking the White House. So why give such grief to Brian Williams for his lie(s)? And what about President Obama claiming victims of the Paris Kosher grocery shooting were merely bystanders randomly killed by the terrorist and not because they were Jews - isn't denial of this magnitude also a method of denying reality through a lie?
Haven't the American public had enough of the liars in our media and our political leadership? Is it possible we will never know an honest reporter or politicians ever again? As President Thomas Jefferson once wrote: "The advertisement is the most truthful part of a newspaper." Although lying is now expected in political arenas, it now (unfortunately) seems to be routine in our media. And isn't that the biggest shame of all, when we no longer expect and/or demand straight talk from anyone anymore? Perhaps this is the real reason our country is susceptible to tyranny...the ideological rationale of many that speaking lies can be okay if told to perpetuate one's political or societal ambitions. To this notion, I say nonsense! Won't you join me in telling lying politicians and faux journalists, "We aren't going to take it anymore!?" Anchors Aweigh to them all! Have a great week!
