Within the last days of the Trump Administration, Donald Trump ordered the virtual immediate withdrawal of all American Troops from Afghanistan claiming it was past time to arbitrarily bring the troops home. Along those same lines, Trump negotiated through Pompous Mike Pompeo the release of the most dangerous member of the Taliban hierarchy, a guy by the name of Mullah Baradar.(See: www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-afghanistan-taliban/trump-taliban-leader-talk-as-prisoner-feud-threatens-afghan-peace-idUSKBN20Q2OP and www.npr.org/2021/03/04/973604904/trumps-deal-to-end-war-in-afghanistan-leaves-biden-with-a-terrible-situation, meaww.com/mullah-baradar-who-new-president-afghanistan-taliban-founder-aide-trump-released-mike-pompeo-met).
But all is seemingly forgotten now that Joe Biden is facing the actual withdrawal put into place by Trump. Once again, the media focuses all of its blame for the entire years on Biden, despite the fact George W. Bush got us into this war and Trump unceremoniously called it quits - all in an effort to leave Biden "holding the bag." Talk about hypocrisy? Recently, Congress held a vote to support efforts to get as many Afghan support personnel and their families out of Afghanistan ahead of the Taliban's certain return to power. It should be noted that several Right Wing politicians politicized this effort as well and voted against such a policy to save as many as possible. Only now, those same GOP politicians are railing against Biden for "leaving so many behind." Huh? To top it off, Trump told his rally goers just a few months ago that he alone engineered the end of the Afghan War and he again fulfilled his promises to get US out (as he said, by "May 1."). Yet, all mentions of this approach by TFG seem to have suddenly been scrubbed from internet outlets - all in an effort to once again blame Biden and the Democrats for everything the Republicans themselves have been doing.
So next time you think about what a Republican is today, think hypocrite. It's the only label that they themselves can't really shrug off. It's there for every American to clearly see (unless you are in Fox News, Oan, etc.). Stay safe and diligent with Covid. Try to have a great week.
