Despite all of our thoughts about things getting easier now that Joe Biden is president, one can't seem to get around the fact that the GOP and MAGA's are now in full endorsement mode in an effort to protect one of their very own, Q-Anon nut case, Marjorie Taylor Greene. You see, despite all of the mixed messages coming from GOP leadership. the Republican Party has seemingly become the Party of Q-Anon. Why? It seems the Republicans are afraid of the "base" of nut jobs and armed idiot masses, that can be led by their noses to believe virtually anything their Dear Leader, Donald Trump tells them. Aided by Right Wing Media, our nation is now facing the biggest threat to its existence - Radical Right Wing White Supremacists. Knowing the demographics of America is changing and not for the better, the GOP seemingly has no choice but to either reform themselves or take the easy route - embrace the nut jobs and allow them to become the face of their party. Remember the Whig Party? Good chance the new QOP will eventually fall by the wayside like they did. When thinking about Trump's proposed "Patriot's Party", nothing makes me happier than to be reminded of the time the Republicans split themselves apart. Think Woodrow Wilson's ascendency to the White House.
Perhaps more disturbing is the Right Wings embrace of Q-Anon theories that embellish and promote Anti-Semitism canards. Greene, already a flame thrower for the QOP, has publicly stated that wildfires in California were started by Jewish Space Lasers designed and operated by Jews to destroy America - for some sinister motive somehow tied to making money. And the Republican response to these claims? Not much. Some apologize but reiterate, "it's just her personal opinion." So if a guy by the name of Hitler showed up to run in a GOP Primary spouting virulent Anti-Semitic rhetoric, that would be okay too because it's just his opinion, right?
I will never understand how any Jewish Americans can ever support the Republican Party if that Party does nothing to root out purveyors of Anti-Jewish and Anti-Muslim rhetoric. Knowing so many Jews still support Trump and the Right Wing, I can only hope that one day they will be visited by one of their dead relatives (that died in the Holocaust) to ask them why they think they are somehow excluded from the attacks by Greene and her ilk. Some Jews in 1930 Germany never thought the Nazis meant "all Jews", just those "undesirable." But to Hitler and the Nazis, a Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Now if only we had a space laser to zap the shit out of these morons that promote hate, bigotry and AntiSemitism. Until then, we can only hope real Americans stand up to push back on the toxic atmosphere promoted and protected by the GOP - now QOP. Do the words "Never Again" really mean anything to Jewish Americans? History, while often repeating itself, clearly indicates we should know better. Try to have a safe week. Be well.
