Did I make it to watch the late speeches at the RNC? You bet. Have I gotten through the late night speeches at the DNC? You bet. But I am "out of gas" and pooped. You Bet! Perhaps it is for the best that both parties this year cut their full convention schedules back a day? Either way, tonight's finale cannot come soon enough. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed both conventions, but I am worn out. How about you all? Want more? If so, buckle up because the Fall Campaign officially gets underway tomorrow morning. All I can ask is that you think independently, critically, and with serious purpose about this year's elections. If we do that, we will all be just fine. Somehow, I think I can hang on until November before we get a well deserved reprieve. I (almost) can't wait.
I have one question for the planners of both political conventions. Why in the world do you schedule the "main event" speakers to speak so late? As a working man (yes, I am up at 5:25am and I am at my desk by 6:45am and like today don't leave until after 5pm) and I find myself having a problem staying awake after 9pm let alone to 11:30pm. I know how to use my DVR so I could go to bed and watch the speeches the next evening, but then I would miss the "moment" of the speeches in context, and I would miss the speeches scheduled to be given while watching the replays. And I know it is amazing to some of you, but I do spend quite of time reading everything I can find on the 'Net for political news, including matters occurring "over seas."
