According to a recent study conducted at Brown University, the real cost of the war in Afghanistan could exceed $2 Trillion, and we have Karzai claiming we are working with the enemy because we want to stay? If Karzai is our ally, who is our enemy and what the hell are we doing in a country that obviously does not want us there? Wouldn't it be smarter to simply begin pulling all of our troops out of Afghanistan so the people there can deal with their own problems. Sorry I feel so (perhaps) "Jingoistic", but enough is enough. The United States needs to seriously review its foreign policy so we can honestly evaluate who are our real allies and who are our allies in name only to get a hefty chunk of America's largess. L-rd knows America has spent a King's Treasure in Iraq and Afghanistan. Isn't time we spend some of the money intended for Afghanistan on America's infrastructure instead?
Taliban. (c) Time Magazine What will it take to convince folks that our "presence" in Afghanistan is over extended? What will it take to finally determine that it is time for the United States to end all military actions in Afghanistan and bring the troops home? Honestly, I think the words of Afghan President Hamid Karzai should give us all guidance. According to Karzai, "The Taliban talk to the United States every day, but they detonate bombs in Kabul and Khost to show their force to the Americans. No, these bombs that went off in Khost and Kabul yesterday, this wasn’t showing force to America…in reality, it was a service to the foreigners so their presence remains in Afghanistan.” Huh? Karzai is saying we are working with the Taliban in order to justify our military presence in Afghanistan?
