I had the chance to listen to both video tapes in their entirety and there is no equivalency between the two. Obama spoke about reforming government in ways every Republican would approve and only mentioned "redistribution" when speaking about helping Americans succeed. Distributions like Pell Grants and benefits under the GI Bill is what he was addressing. Romney on the other hand was claiming that Americans not paying Federal income tax are somehow a drain on America. Huh? It was reported that over 4,000 American households with over $1 Million in annual income also do not pay Federal income taxes due to available tax credits and the type of income their receive. Mitt Romney himself paid substantially less on his tax rate than average Americans, so what gives with his statement? More importantly, many veterans receiving disability benefits don't make enough money to have to pay Federal income taxes yet do pay other forms of taxes (sales, property, etc). More importantly, a large segment of Americans not paying Federal Income taxes are those whose income is limited to Social Security. Hmm, I wonder who those folks would be? Perhaps many of those living in Florida are who Romney needs to win the state if he has any hope of winning the White House? Amazingly, Pew Research just released their latest national poll and they found President Obama leading Romney by 8 points. 8 points! And that was before Romney's disdainful comments about Americans that have no desire to take personal responsibility in their lives. And what do they respond with? A video over a decade old of a young Obama proclaiming a Republican notion that government needs to be reformed and additional programs created to assist Americans get ahead in life. Think the two have a moral equivalency? Fair and Balanced? Score another for Obama. Romney, it's time to sink or swim!
