Perhaps instead of focusing in on an alleged coverup on Libya, the media should be exposing the GOP suppression of a report issued by the Non-Partisan Congressional Research Services? Huh? What's that you say? Most Americans are not aware of the GOP efforts to block the release of a report debunking the entire Republican economic philosophy! According to The New York Times, the Senate GOP led by Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and fellow Republican Senators harassed the non-partisan Congressional Research Services into burying a report they created that determined the entire GOP philosophy of reducing taxes on the wealthiest Americans ("job creators") has NEVER resulted in higher employment OR created a better performing economy. According to the Report, the ONLY thing resulting from cutting taxes on business owners and the wealthy? Enrichment of the the business owners and the wealthy while the country suffers from decreases in revenue resulting in cuts to programs that benefit the Middle Class. Talk about "Dividing the Nation!" No wonder McConnell and other Senate GOP leaders demanded the report not be issued...it debunked the GOP's entire economic argument! The bigger question though is why was a report issued by a NON-PARTISAN group suppressed and why has the media swept the GOP action "under the carpet?" Shouldn't Americans know that the entire economic argument of the Republican Party is a proven sham? One of the comments I found on the Drudge Report supporting the suppression was that Republicans "didn't disagree with the facts of the Report, they simply didn't like the tone of the Report." Tone? If you recall, I have quoted some months ago a Republican Congressman claiming the GOP economic philosophy to be a fraud... it was Fiorello LaGuardia some 81 years ago! If the media was actually "Liberal and Lamestream" why have we not heard more about this "ReportGate?"
If our "leaders" see an urgent need to promote and focus our energies on politically motivated "investigations" perhaps we should investigate why Republican leaders in the Senate found it necessary to suppress a Report issued by a Non-Partisan group that actually debunks their entire economic philosophy? Would it not be in the Nation's best interest to know Republican leadership is "covering up" information the public would have a direct interest in, especially so close to a presidential election? If the "Lamestream media" was so "Liberal" wouldn't they be out in front of this Republican obstruction and suppression? And where are the "patriotic" Republicans who give their full throated support for investigating Obama when it is obvious Republican leadership is also playing fast and loose with a "cover-up" of their own making?
If this election is won by Mitt Romney, can you think of any better reason to stop engaging in obstructionism, distortions and character assassination? If Romney wins Tuesday, it will prove that all of these distasteful methods work, so why bother being honest with the American people? I, for one am hopeful that the GOP and their ideologically supporting media are not rewarded with a victory on Tuesday, otherwise, will caring about "Country First" forever take a back seat to "Party First?"
