Political Dysphoria

A Symptom of Political Dysphoria: Confusion

       After a brutal on-line argument about the Constitution and Obama with an acquaintance, I have determined that some folks are suffering from a new ailment that leads to "confusion."   The ailment?  "Political Dysphoria",  a disease that induces a terminal case of finding political realities "hard to bear."  You see, my acquaintance is so convinced that President Obama is  "tearing apart the Constitution to become a dictator" that he refuses to even listen to anything I say as it relates to the roles of Congress, the President and the the Judiciary.  He also firmly believes that his credentials (virtually none) are equivalent to mine because we  both "express opinions and everyone is entitled to their opinions."  But his opinion is based upon not only flawed logic, but flawed logic founded on a fundamental misunderstanding of the Constitution, American History and Government.  When you blend ignorance of our great history with ignorance of our Constitutional Government, you have the trifecta of ignorance.  This type of ignorance is dangerous to our Democratic-Republic.  Now when some folks have asked me why I put up with the talking points my acquaintance considers "gospel,"  I remind them that I have dedicated myself to teaching these very topics!  But I have to admit, some folks today are so messed up from this illness that I have doubts it can be cured. 
         So be on the lookout!  Look out for the dreaded ailment known as Political Dysphoria! Have a great weekend!
