Since the Easter date that Donald Trump declared we would be open for business has passed, there is more than a passing chance it will be July before America can "re-open" for business, and perhaps even later than that. Why? Because Trump and his GOP allies refuse to extend the testing necessary to determine if America has even come close to being ready to "re-open for business." Seems the business of healthcare is on-going, as is the business of staying in self-isolation, but the economy according to Trump and the GOP is far more important that thousands of American lives.
I know this would seem to be an outlandish statement just months ago, but today it has become obvious that our president and his loyal GOP followers truly are not interested in anything but money and the profits businesses can extract from its consumers. Despite the fact that the total in America is pushing 26,000 lives lost (thus far). That's over 26,000 consumers that will no longer be around to patronize businesses.
Although America was already suffering from the incompetence of Donald Trump, we now learn straight from the man that he "has absolute authority" on all matters. He says, "it's not my power, it's the President's (as if that would make it true). The man that accepts "Zero Responsibility" for anything, now claims he alone has the absolute authority (power) to do anything he pleases. And where does he think that authority ends? When pressed, he says there will be "a paper" on it. Whatever paper Bill Barr makes up out of thin air, it won't have much merit since there is already something in writing that says a president does not have absolute authority or power over anything. That paper document? It's called the Constitution - something Trump, Barr, the GOP and MAGA's seem to forget is the real bible of our democratic-republic.
So as we get closer to November, let us all remember that no one is above the law - not Donald Trump, Bill Barr or even Chief Justice John Roberts (who should take his place next to the worst chief justices in our history) may I suggest Chief Justice Roger B. Taney (see Dred Scott Decision). When we survive this Covid-19 pandemic, let's make sure Trump's presidency is kicked to the dust bin of history come this November.
