"Are they looking for a redo because they hated seeing the strong NO COLLUSION conclusion? There was no crime, except on the other side (incredibly not covered in the Report), and NO OBSTRUCTION. Bob Mueller should not testify. No redos for the Dems!"
Why is this important? Because Trump and his supporters are trying to change the narrative that Trump and his Campaign encouraged meddling in our elections by the Russians and also engaged in a shadow conspiracy to push Wikileaks to pursue (with the assistance of Russia) narratives about Clinton's emails (see Roger Stone). What may be worse, efforts to obstruct the investigation by Trump's own actions (0ver 10 instances outlined in Mueller's Report). Yet, Trump and his supporters seem to miss the bigger picture when it comes to Mueller. For over two years, the GOP-led Congress took zero action to provide Constitutionally mandated oversight over this president and his administration. Zero! In fact, it has been proven that GOP members of Congress did everything they could to minimize the actual investigation into Trump wrongdoing or Russian interference in our elections? Besides party loyalty, why would GOP members of Congress act so negligently?
Take a close look at Trump's tweet. He wants us all to believe that Mueller was engaged to investigate Trump based upon the urgings of the Democrats in Congress. Except at the time of Mueller's appointment as Special Counsel, the Democrats did not control the House or the Senate. In fact, it was Rod Rosenstein, Trump's very own Assistant Attorney General that initiated the independent investigation. Mueller, a Republican was chosen to lead the investigation by a Republican in a Republican run-Department of Justice. When the investigation led to numerous indictments of many, including the former Trump Campaign chair, Vice-Chair as well as players in the RNC, it's a bit tough to swallow Trump's lie about the Democrats. What separate investigations of Trump have the Democrats engaged in over the past two years? The answer is easy - none! Now that the Democrats have control of oversight in the House of Representatives, Trump believes he is not beholden to them and therefore, any laws they seek to enforce must be due to "partisan political" objectives. Yet, oversight was created by the Framers of the Constitution regardless of political party or which party is in the majority. It is required in the Constitution that Congress play an important role in our system of checks and balances and separation of powers. And if the Constitution alone is not clear, the words of Hamilton in Federalist 69 points out the need to keep a rogue president in check, lest they become a tyrant like a king.
So for claiming to be the "most transparent president ever", where is the transparency? Trump has demanded that the IRS Commissioner refuse to comply with clear law requiring him to turn over anyone's tax returns if requested by Congress. The House demanded the returns. Trump compliance with that law? Nope, it's too inconvenient to be bothered with obeying any little law. I mean, the part that says "Shall give Congress" has now been muddled with what does "shall" mean? Trump has sued Congress claiming they have no right to see any of the underlying evidence supporting the results of the Mueller's investigation. Yet, when it comes to allowing Mueller to clarify what he found to the American People, Trump prefers to have us all simply "trust" HIS Attorney General and HIS position that when the President doesn't see a crime, he can override any investigation into his actions as president. The last guy to believe that was Richard Nixon, who once famously said in an interview with David Frost; "When the president does it, it is not against the law." He went on to state that he then knew he was the only one to believe such a view on the application of law. Of course, today you can add William Barr and Donald Trump to those believing Nixon's own words - that he as president is above the law and laws no longer apply to him. If you think this belief is not truly dangerous, then consider his most recent statements and tweets by the man laying down a foundation for a notion that his first two years were so muddled by investigations, he should be entitled to an additional two years added to his term. Yep, he claimed this on Twitter. And where is the GOP to knock this notion down as being clearly Unconstitutional? Crickets. (See: www.businessinsider.com/extend-trump-presidency-indiana-campaign-rally-2018-5).
We are indeed in dangerous times. We are in a Constitutional Crisis the GOP could have prevented, yet stood idly by watching democracy die a slow death at the hands of their tyrant, King Donald the Trump. If the Democrats can't stomach facing Trump with impeachment investigations, how can they expect to win back the country with a victory in the White House and the Senate? If our Founding Fathers and Mothers felt the way so may fear about attacking King Donald, we would all be British Subjects today instead of Americans!
As patriot Daniel Webster once wrote; "The contest for ages has been to rescue liberty from the grasp of executive power." We are in need of rescuing from King Donald, his minions in his Administration and supporting GOP. It's time we hold King Donald accountable. "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" sounds like a great maxim in law, but it doesn't work when the guilty continue to flaunt the very law they claim protects them, unless the accused refuses to comply with law - that makes him guilty regardless. We expect more from our elected representatives (Democrat or Republican). We certainly expect more from a president, especially one determined to become king. Have a great week!
