If this were true, what sort of panic and worry would Americans feel about the expansion of such threats against our very existence? Could we engage in a new "Cold War" where mutually assured destruction would return to rule the day? But what about an enemy that welcomes the the mutual destruction of the World? Would we try to negotiate with those that say one thing to our faces, and then say the exact other when facing their own people claiming to be "true believers?"
Although this may sound like a fairy tale to Americans, it is not for those living in Israel! But is the World paying attention? Although the most recent conflict between Hamas and Israel has been halted due to a brokered cease fire, there remains no peace between those hell-bent on destroying Israel while the Jewish State continues to protect its citizens from attacks. Now that there is a "cease fire", what has been accomplished by any of the players in this dangerous game?
Hamas claims to have prevailed in an "overwhelming victory" over the Zionist (aka Jewish) Regime (Israel). Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian President Morsi claims victory for assuming the leading position as spokesman for the Arab League, brokering the cease fire that mentions nothing about peace between Israel and its Muslim neighbors. But did Morsi actually win? Now he will be responsible for an even more militant Hamas that has already made it clear they will not be guided by anyone's rules, let alone Egypt's. What is potentially worse for Morsi will be his lack of control over Hamas the next time they decide to start another war with Israel. Coupled with demands by Hamas for Egypt to open its borders with Gaza, Morsi, in his quest for regional power, may just have broken more off than he can possibly chew!
Iran, already suffering from the effects of their own outrageous plans to obtain nuclear weapons (of which they boast will "wipe Israel from the face of the Earth"), lost its ability to lead Hamas and Hezbollah when their weaponry was effectively shot from the sky by Israel's Iron Dome Anti-Missile Defense System.
Hezbollah, lost for the same reasons...their extended arsenal of rockets may not be as lethal as previously thought. If they chose to attack Israel from Lebanon, how far would they get attempting to invade from the North? Not very far, so their military calculation always relied upon their alleged ability to "rain fire and death" upon Israel (with its Iranian provided missile capabilities). Again, Iron Dome provides what is known in chess as "Check." But what do the leaders of Hezbollah say knowing this? According to The Associated Press, "The battle with us is going to be all over occupied Palestine," the black-turbaned (Hezbollah leader) Nasrallah said. "From the border with Lebanon to the frontier with Jordan to the Red Sea." See, this includes all of Israel. Ironically, Nasrallah made this proclamation in a video made while in hiding in a secret place. He is SO confident in Hezbollah's abilities to destroy Israel that he cannot show his face in public for fear of being killed. But as ridiculous as this may be, the threats based upon their beliefs remain very real!
Turkey is perhaps the biggest loser in this matter because having once held close ties to Israel, it pushed them aside when it saw a leadership vacuum being created by the isolation of Iran and the "Arab Spring" in Egypt, hoping to become the "Voice" of the Muslim World. As we all know now, Turkey is damaged with its own Kurdish problems and its failed efforts to influence the outcome of the Syrian Civil War. Now Turkey is asking for the US to give them the Patriot Anti-Missile Defense System to protect against incoming missiles fired from Syria. Iran is now warning Turkey that the installation of the Patriot System would be "provocative." Really? As a result of these recent events, Turkey's play for influence in the region have become "marginalized."
But what have we learned when all is said and done about the cease fire? We have learned that Israel pounded Gaza with 1500 air strikes that proved accurate. Hamas on the other hand, fired 1500 missiles into Israel and only a handful hit anything. The sad part, Hamas fired missiles into Israel without a clue where they would land. Their indiscriminate shelling of Israel proved their ambitions...to inflict as many civilian casualties as possible, without regard to their actual affects. Why else would Hamas fire missiles into Jerusalem, a City they "claim" is holy to them. If it was truly holy, why would they send missiles there in an effort to destroy it? Fortunately, the United States funded and Israeli developed Iron Dome Anti-Missile Defense System proved to be at least 85% effective against incoming missile air strikes! So much for their enemies' prolific arsenals! So much for the Hamas "clear victory." But when will be the "next conflict" Hamas is calling for? Will Israel remain prepared to defend herself? Will the World turn a blind eye to the Muslim Brotherhood's ambition to destroy Israel first, and the rest of the "infidels" second? Will terrorism in the form of a "declared war" be anything less than terrorism itself?
But what about Israel? What did they get out of this conflict? Are they really winners or losers? Obviously, their air superiority cannot be matched by its enemies. Their ability to muster a hundred thousand soldiers in a moments notice to defend itself cannot be matched by its enemies. The Israel Defense Forces are a highly trained and sophisticated fighting machine, capable of prosecuting any type of war, including one involving nuclear ballistic weapons from submarines. So why the restraint Israel continues to show when facing a war? Because unlike it's enemies, Israel cherishes life over death. Israel seeks war from no one and prays for an everlasting peace, regardless of its enemies' persistent calls for its destruction. Between a strong Israel and an even stronger belief that it will be safeguarded from all evil set upon it, Israel once again is the real winner from this cease fire, and the United States again stands with her, sharing the ideals of peace and democracy. So what if America faced the threat Israel faces today? What would we do? Now that America is weaning itself from Arab oil, we are more free to voice our objections to Arab or Muslim regimes that favor death instead of peace. Now that the World is watching and understands that Israel represents all Western values, we must all begin to fight for OUR beliefs in the values of life and peace, and then we and our children, along with Israel will be the real winners!
