Over the last day or two, it has become apparent that President Obama has just scored the Trifecta of political payoffs! First, Obama's handling of the federal response to the devastation from Hurricane Sandy has been acknowledged not only by Americans, but Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. In addition to that obvious "win" for the President, Obama was able to add the endorsement of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who claimed that Obama deserved re-election because he is on the right side of history when it comes to climate change and the need to address real science dealing with the rise of the oceans (which flowed into the streets of New York City). Take that endorsement and add it to Colin Powell's, Obama has scored two endorsements from moderates, but he also scored an equally impressive endorsement from none other than the Conservative magazine, The Economist.
To be specific, Mayor Bloomberg's endorsement read; "Our climate is changing. And while the increase in extreme weather we have experienced in New York City and around the world may or may not be the result of it, the risk that it may be — given the devastation it is wreaking — should be enough to compel all elected leaders to take immediate action.”
From The Economist; "Many of The Economist’s readers, especially those who run businesses in America, may well conclude that nothing could be worse than another four years of Mr Obama. We beg to differ. For all his businesslike intentions, Mr Romney has an economic plan that works only if you don’t believe most of what he says. That is not a convincing pitch for a chief executive. And for all his shortcomings, Mr Obama has dragged America’s economy back from the brink of disaster, and has made a decent fist of foreign policy. So this newspaper would stick with the devil it knows, and re-elect him."
So despite the crazed rantings of Rush Limbaugh and his ilk, Obama has again shown why he is the President of the United States and can get things done when others aren't doing their level best to obstruct him! Now that Obama has won the Trifecta, will America validate his ticket?
